Skate Canada announces national team; Patrick performs at the Detroit Skating Club’s Annual Ice Show

Skate Canada announced the Canadian 2016-2017 National Team, and it was no surprise that their champion Patrick was at the top of the list. The appointment started retroactively at the beginning of this month and extends until the end of April, 2017.

Meanwhile, Patrick skated really well at the Detroit Skating Club’s 2016 Ice Show.

If there’s one thing Patrick could use more of – that’s fun therapy – and it looks like he got a dose of it when he was at Rogers Arena for the Stars on Ice Tour, as shown in this fabulous photo by Megan Yim:

Patrick, along with all of the Canadian figure skating champions, attended Skate Canada’s Ice Summit this week in St. John’s, NL. The Ice Summit is a conference for all volunteers, coaches, officials and administrators. I would love to know if Patrick attended as a speaker, workshop attendee, or both!

Today, Megan Duhamel and Alaine Chartrand were kind enough to share this photo of them all dressed up and matching perfectly at the award gala!

Why I Started This Site

Posted Leave a commentPosted in Viv and the Site

As I said in my About Me page, I’m a relatively new fan of Patrick Chan, having been fortunate enough to find out about him right at the beginning of his comeback season last year. Patrick’s talent blew me away, and I just had to find other people who liked him as I did. So I joined the Golden Skate Forums Patrick Chan Fan Fest, where we had numerous absorbing discussions about Patrick’s skating and how he could overcome his rocky progress thus far.

At the beginning of this year I had the crazy idea that we fans (who seemed few and far between here in North America) ought to do something to encourage him, so I went on Twitter with my main purpose being to encourage him. I had no idea if he would read my tweets, but I figured what the heck, I would try anyway. Then he won Canadian Nationals and Four Continents, and we all got this nice message back from him.

Now that I’ve been on Twitter for a few months, I’ve discovered a treasure trove of news, photos, videos, and information I hadn’t seen before. I wanted to collect them all and put them somewhere, but I didn’t want to overwhelm my fellow forum fans. Also, during the course of getting to know more about Patrick, my brain developed a few thoughts and opinions that I would prefer to share on my own blog. Finally, when I searched the internet I did not find an up-to-date fan site or blog dedicated to Patrick in existence, at least not in English.

So this is it – I hope this site encourages all who come visit. If nothing else, this will be a fun learning experience for me as I continue to make updates and improvements to the site. I hope you enjoy it!
